Hanseland and Vennebroek

The gate the Pottenpoort at the Hoofdweg in Paterswolde, just south of Groningen leads you to the Hanseland office, villa Vennebroek. The ornaments are copies, the story goes that the originals have been given to the former Queen of the Netherlands. Vennebroek was build in 1846 on the ruins of a small castle from the Middle Ages.

In 1913 it was modernized, electricity and running water (manual pump) was brought to Vennebroek. In the sixties and seventies it was again modernized, and during the eighties and nineties left to its own.

Vennebroek is situated on a 60 hectare property protected by Natuurmonumenten (the Society forprotection of nature) and just 5 car minutes from Groningen city centre.

The restauration of Vennebroek started in 2000, and took all in all some 2 years. Special bricks had to be hand made, all glass-in-lead to be replaced. All with care, when you enter you return back to the early 20th century. Hanseland moved in end 2002.

Vennebroek is now for Hanseland clients, partners, friends and of course the Hanseland team a very special place to work, discuss, develop new ideas and to be inspired.
